4"Making Kits..." screen is stuck
If the app hangs up on the “Making Kits” screen, it is typically because of one of the issues below.
1. Make sure you are on the a href="https://www.kit-maker.com/latest-version/">latest version of Kit Maker, which fixes some minor bugs that would cause this in the past.
2. It could also be that the sample packs are being imported from an external drive or cloud drive that is not connecting well with the app.
On rare occasions, a user will have external hard drive that will cause the “Making Kits” screen to come up.
Solution: Before importing, copy the sample pack to your computer’s main hard drive. Then import the sample pack. If this works, then the issue was a connection with that specific hard drive.
You can also try out Troubleshooting steps at the bottom of this page. If that does not solve the issue, the steps help put together information for me to look into it myself.

5Empty pads are sporadic, even in the first kits that are created (Sample Pack Mode)
Kit Maker will eventually run out of samples, and the final kits may be missing some samples. This is normal.
However, if there are plenty of samples in the imported pack, and the first kits being created have many sporadically empty pads, this could be a Windows related bug that has been fixed as of Kit Maker 2.4.
Download the latest version of Kit Maker here.
If this was not your issue, and you feel like a Sample Pack is not being processed correctly, please send me your main.log file (Help > Show Log Files) along with a description of what happened and a shared link to the Sample Pack for me to look into the issue.

6ALL the kits are blank, or missing samples
If your kits are being created, but ALL the pads are blank or missing samples, this is typically because of a permissions issue with your computer. This means that your computer doesn't have full access to either the folder/drive that your sample pack is on or the folder/drive that the kits are being created on.
If your sample pack is on a different drive than your main drive, try copying the sample pack to your desktop. Then try processing that drive in Kit Maker.
If you still have issues, please message us with as many details as possible so we can help.

2Ableton says "Media files are missing"
You may have set up a custom User Library location in Ableton. Kit Maker uses Ableton's default User Library location by default. Make sure to link your custom User Library location in the Kit Maker preferences. Once you have saved your preferences, re process the sample packs.
Our help article on how to use a custom Ableton User Library has additional info.
If you already linked your custom location in Kit Maker, and are (likely) a PC user on Ableton Live 12.1 or higher, this may be a bug that was in the Kit Maker 2.3.x versions. It has been fixed in version 2.4.0 (currently in beta here).
If you still have trouble, please follow the "Troubleshooting Ableton Files" steps at the bottom of that page. These steps will help you solve the problem, or help provide me the info I need to investigate the issue further

4Ableton presets are not showing up
If you have a custom User Library location in Ableton Live you will need to link that location in the Kit Maker preferences. This is the most common fix.
You can confirm the location of your Ableton User Library by viewing the Ableton preferences; check the Library tab under "Location of User Library." Then in the Kit Maker preferences, click the folder path under "Ableton User Library" and update the location to that same directory you saw in your Ableton preferences. The folder you select should be called "User Library." Save the Kit Maker preferences and try processing the library again.

6Ableton says the presets are damaged or broken.
Make sure you are on the
latest version .
In older versions of Kit Maker, kits would have issues in Ableton if strange characters were in the sample names or file paths (such as %, ^, *, etc). Weird character names can confuse Ableton. In later Kit Maker updates, these characters are fixed for you.
