Sample Pack Importer

Dragging folders in works fine, but once you have a lot of packs the importer is faster. It scans the folders where you keep your packs and lists everything it finds. Open it with the Sample Pack Importer button below the import panel.

Basics #

Click a pack to add it to your import list. It turns red with an arrow beside it; click it again to take it off. Import All adds every usable pack on the tab. Then click Done and Make Presets.

Click Refresh after you download new packs so the list picks them up.

The importer only reads your folders. Packs stay exactly where they are, and nothing is copied, moved, or renamed.

The Five Tabs #

One tab per source, and three of them find your folders on their own:

  • My Packs: your own pack folders. Click + Add Folder to add as many as you want; each becomes its own collapsible group. Removing a folder only takes it off this list, your files aren’t touched.
  • MPC Exp.: finds your MPC, MPC 3 or MPC Beats content folder. Expansions install under coded names like com.akaipro.mpc.expansion…, so Preset Maker reads MPC’s own catalog files and shows the real pack name.
  • Maschine: reads the Expansions location Native Access is using.
  • Splice: finds your Splice packs folder.
  • Samples From Mars: choose the folder where you keep these packs.

If a tab can’t find its folder, it asks you to choose one. The reset button beside the path goes back to the detected location.

Reading the List #

Every row shows the pack name and what it will actually make, worked out with the same rules and preferences a real run uses. Change a preference and the counts update the next time you open the importer. A list might look like this:

▾ Producer Packs 7 packs
Late Night Keys 12 multis • 3 groups
  Tape Soul Vol. 2 4 multis • 5 groups
Analog Poly Toolkit 18 sfz • 2 groups
  Melodic One-Shots 6 groups
  Dusty Textures 1 Loose preset
▸ No usable samples 2 packs
  • 12 multis: multisample instruments built from the filenames
  • 18 sfz: instruments read from the pack’s own instrument files
  • 3 groups: One-Shot Group Presets
  • 1 Loose preset: only loose melodic samples, pooled into one
  • 25 xpm: MPC keygroup programs, on the MPC Exp. tab

Hover a pack for the full breakdown: how many multisample instruments it makes, and how many samples go into each One-Shot Group Preset (for example Keys 18, Synths 11, Pads and Atmospheres 9, Loose 6).

Packs that wouldn’t make anything, like a folder of drum loops with no notes in the filenames, are collected into a No usable samples drawer at the bottom of the list instead of failing partway through a batch. Packs with only a handful of samples sort to the bottom too.
