Preset Maker turns the sample packs you already own into playable instrument presets for MPC, Ableton Live, Beatmaker, Deluge, FL Studio (DirectWave) and any SFZ player. Here’s the fast version.

  1. Import. Drag a pack folder (or several) onto the import panel, or click the Sample Pack Importer button to pick from every pack you own.
  2. Pick your formats. Choose one or more output formats for the DAW or device you’re making presets for. Your choice is remembered next time.
  3. Make Presets. Preset Maker reads each pack, maps the samples to keys, and exports.

Two kinds of preset come out of a pack. Multisample presets are built from instruments sampled across several notes. One-Shot Presets group the loose melodic one-shots by sound, so a pack’s stabs, plucks and chords are playable instead of scattered.

When the run finishes, Preset Maker shows where each format’s presets were saved. The Reveal Output Folder button in the bottom-right of the main window opens them again any time.

Supported formats #

  • MPC (MPC Live, X, One, Key, Akai Force, plus MPC Desktop and MPC Beats)
  • Ableton Live 10, 11 or 12. Presets use Ableton’s Sampler device, which isn’t included in every edition of Live (it comes with Live Suite).
  • Beatmaker 3 (iOS)*
  • Deluge
  • FL Studio (DirectWave)
  • SFZ, for any SFZ player

* Beatmaker 2 can load these presets too.

Details on each one are in Formats.

Drum kits? Preset Maker makes instrument presets. For drum kits on pads, built from the same packs, see the companion app Kit Maker.
