# Numbered Files

Numbered Files is the workaround for DAWs and devices that Kit Maker can't make a direct kit preset for, for example the SP404 MKII, which has no kit file.

It makes one folder per kit, with the samples numbered in pad order. Drag the contents of a kit folder onto the first pad of an empty drum kit in your DAW and the kit fills in, in the correct layout. Each folder is a finished kit with the right number of samples, not a loose collection.

It's also the way to make kits for Maschine-compatible pad layouts without creating encrypted NI presets. The software that works well with Numbered Files is listed in the next section.

## Works with Numbered Files

These devices and apps don't have a Kit Maker-built preset format, but they work well with the **Numbered Files** format (see above). Kit Maker generates a folder of correctly-ordered samples that you drag into the device's pad layout:

- Roland SP404 MKII (use the SP404 Layout in the dropdown)
- [Reason](/reason-drum-kits-kong/) (Kong)
- Novation Circuit Tracks / Rhythm
- [Maschine](/maschine-drum-kits/)
- Geist2
- Groove Agent SE 5
- iMPC 2 (iOS)
